Privacy Policy

Phrasify is a small word game. We collect the information needed to run the game, remember your progress, support social features, and understand whether the app is working. We do not sell your personal information or use it for targeted ads.

1. Who this policy covers

This policy explains how Phrasify handles information when you visit phrasify.app, play a puzzle, create an account, or use related features. “Phrasify,” “we,” and “us” refer to the operator of the Phrasify game.

2. Information we collect

  • Player and gameplay information. We assign a player identifier and store puzzle attempts, guesses, results, scores, completion times, settings, streaks, and progress. This happens whether or not you create an account so your game can work and your progress can be remembered.
  • Account information. If you create an account, we collect your email address and authentication information. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider; Phrasify does not receive your password in plain text.
  • Profile and social information. We may store your nickname, group memberships, collection subscriptions, group settings, and puzzles or collections you create.
  • Messages and email preferences. If you contact us or subscribe to an email, we collect the reply address, message, email address, and preference needed to respond or send that email.
  • Technical and usage information. Our app and service providers may process page views, game and feature interactions, browser and device details, IP address, referring page, and similar diagnostic or security information.

3. Cookies, local storage, and analytics

Phrasify uses cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in, recognize your player identifier, save preferences, and remember game state. We also use PostHog and Vercel Analytics to measure page views, feature use, performance, and errors. These tools may use cookies or similar identifiers. Phrasify does not run third-party advertising or use these tools to target ads to you.

You can clear cookies and local storage in your browser, but doing so may sign you out or reset locally saved progress and preferences.

4. How we use information

We use information to:

  • provide puzzles and save game progress and statistics;
  • create and secure accounts;
  • run groups, leaderboards, collections, and sharing features;
  • send account messages and optional recaps, alerts, or other emails you request;
  • answer feedback and support requests;
  • understand usage and improve performance and reliability;
  • prevent abuse and protect Phrasify and its players.

5. When information is shared

We may share information in these situations:

  • Service providers. Vendors help us host the app, store data, authenticate accounts, deliver email, and analyze usage. They receive information only as needed to provide those services.
  • Social and public features. Your nickname, game results, group activity, and content you choose to publish may be visible to group members or other players, depending on the feature and its settings.
  • Legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information if reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, investigate abuse, or protect someone’s rights or safety.
  • A change to Phrasify. If the app is sold, transferred, or reorganized, information may transfer with it subject to this policy or a replacement policy disclosed to you.

We do not sell or rent your personal information.

6. Retention, deletion, and your choices

We keep information for as long as reasonably needed to run Phrasify, maintain game history, meet legal obligations, and resolve security or support issues. Retention can vary by the type of information and the settings of our service providers.

You can update your nickname and email preferences in the app. You can also delete your account from Settings. Account deletion removes your authentication account, unlinks your player record, and replaces your nickname. Game history and aggregate statistics may remain in de-identified form so past games and group results continue to work.

To request access, correction, or deletion of other personal information, email support@phrasify.app. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

7. Children’s privacy

Phrasify is a general-audience game and is not directed to children under 13. Do not use Phrasify or create an account if you are under 13. If you believe a child under 13 provided us with personal information, contact us so we can investigate and delete it as appropriate.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect information. No website or storage system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Phrasify changes. We will post the new version here and update the effective date. If a change is significant, we will provide additional notice when reasonably possible.
